THE ABSENT FATHER
Sponsored by ManKind Project Indiana and St. Luke’s Men’s Spirituality Group
Phil Strock retired after spending his life as partner/owner of a local family business in Anderson, IN.
Subsequent to volunteering for more than six years at the Anderson Center, an addictions and mental health
facility of St. John’s Health Systems, he then accepted a therapist position facilitating groups, and
individual and anger-work sessions.
Phil’s lecture, The Absent Father is a product of growing up with a father who was physically present but
emotionally absent. He will address the father-out-of-the-home through abandonment, divorce or death, and
the father-present-in-the-home but emotionally absent. Not only have we lost our fathers, but our fathers
have been lost in their own journeys. Phil will describe healthy fathering. To start the healing process
after growing up in a dysfunctional family in which we developed unexpressed anger, we need to learn to
experience and release our anger in a safe setting, in therapy or groups, and to experience the grieving process.
Only then can we progress to forgiveness, the ultimate healing.
This lecture is part of the Men's Speakers Series, a bimonthly series of lectures about men's issues. The series
is for men and women to explore a path toward a balanced and spiritual life. The presentations are followed by
discussion and questions. The talks are open to the entire community.

If I fill up my children's lives with the things that are important to me
there may be no room for the things that are important to them.

Path to Spirit
-
Would you appreciate some new tools to live your life
more fully?
-
Do love and joy somehow escape your moment-to-moment
experience?
-
Do you often forget or get sidetracked from your
mission?
-
Would you like to experience your life as more of a
celebration than a series of sufferings?
-
Do your personal growth successes not transfer to your
close relationships or career?
-
Or do you just need to be pointed down the path of the
next step,
Making the decision to attend this training or any other training requires the desire to change.
When you are ready, consider our commitment to you:
Our teaching is to combine love and faith with the path of courage and strategy. We believe that it is possible to
convert to an ongoing path of spiritual renewal. Grace and ease are the gifts of this path. Picture a life of gratitude
and celebration rather than living with regrets and remorse.
This training is committed to creating healthy choices and then dynamically showing you how these choices can be
manifested here and now. The “Path to Spirit” training has been offered 40 times to over 470 individuals.
The results of the training are far-reaching and long lasting.
What happens at the Path to Spirit training?
We challenge each “pilgrim” (participant) to
fiercely love themselves in the moment. The container is loving and
supportive of you being in a meditative and curative space. Processes and
teachings include an emphasis on:
deep meditation with visualizations throughout the
weekend
conscious eating while consuming delectable organic food
physical fitness, beginning with yoga.
We offer a process of
transcending your human "burdens" through the steps of surrender,
acceptance, forgiveness, and thankfulness. When combined with warrior
effectiveness, the work of spirit creates opportunities for peaceful
growth.
Individual processing is based on psychodrama, gestalt and
“shadow” work. The work on mission is practical spirituality based on the
“call of spirit”.
The “spirituality” offered at the training flows
out of your belief system and relationship to Spirit. All religions and
their belief systems are welcome.
Who can attend? Women who have done personal growth work, either through
other training programs or through work with therapists or coaches. Interviews will be conducted in advance of the
training to be sure this program is a good fit for each participant.
Note: when the time is right to attend, we will find a way together to finance the training. No person will be turned
away for lack of funds. Transportation will be through participant carpools.

Shadow
Work Weekend Seminar
This non-residential seminar is a
unique personal growth experience that offers each participant an opportunity
to work with his/her shadow and to reclaim parts of the self that have
been unconsciously disowned. It is a good setting to learn how to:
- Increase the ability to make
powerful choices, and experience a sense of blessing
- perceive reality more clearly, and
develop new solutions to old problems
- deepen the capacity for intimacy,
and activate creative talents
- improve the ability to set boundaries,
deal with money, and follow through on goals
Shadow Work(r) is a highly safe and
effective way of accessing the value in our shadows so that we can bring
the full range of our gifts to light, and move toward what we really want
in life. During the weekend, all participants will experience a
series of processes carefully designed to help with accessing the full
range of emotions. For more information on shadow work visit

Soul
Connections
Created and presented by Judith Pauly.
Connect with your soul, Discover the purpose of your soul, experience the
essence of your soul.
This intense, yet simple, 3-5 hour
process, allows you to connect with the core essence of who you really
are. That reflection of the divine often referred to as the soul,
and through this connection gain insight and awareness of your soul's
purpose in this life experience.
Through the examination of your life
story, meditation and light trance you will be led on an exciting journey
of soaring with your soul and looking at life connections through the eyes
of the soul. This often 'life changing' adventure allows past
experiences that may still be held at a cellular level to shift and
creates awareness and new space for love, peace and forgiveness. It
allows you to release old resentments and change old patterns that have
perhaps kept you stuck and been in the way of fulfilling your life
potential.
The cost of an initial session is $300
(terms available).

Taking
It Lightly
From the Center for Creative Living,
Milwaukee, WI with Patricia Clason
A major focus of the work of Taking It
Lightly is recognizing that we all made decisions as children that were
based on what we had observed about how to survive and be loved.
Those decisions were also about avoiding pain and shutting down our
emotions.
As adults, we are guided through life
by those decisions, keeping us 'safe'. However, upon introspection,
it becomes clear that those decisions also keep us from functioning in
present time and keep us limited in the experience and expression of all
of our emotions. Through individual work and participating in the
group during the weekend, each person has an opportunity to make a new
choice and integrate it, freeing up their emotions and their
aliveness. This intense personal focus is possible because each
weekend is limited to fifteen students and staffed by as many assistants
and instructors.

Taming
the Tiger
From the Center for Creative Living,
Milwaukee, WI with Linda Todd, and Patricia Clason (founder of
"Taking It Lightly")
A weekend to guide you to enhancing
your spirituality, becoming safe with your emotions and learning to use
the 12 Steps as a guide for healthy living.
Through the 12 Steps we learn about
honesty, hope, faith, courage, humility, self-discipline, perseverance,
and charity.
Often, trauma or addiction will cause
us to lose our connection with our higher power. When first coming
into recovery, the newness of being free of addictions or pain for the
first time is freeing. We feel reborn to the world. After a
while, we feel as if there is something missing, longing for something to
help us deal with the emotions that have come to the surface. With
the help of your Higher Power and the group, you will move through emotions
into the feeling of freedom that you once had. Think of the TIGER as
being your over-reactive self, emotions from the past that have not been
'tamed'.
Taming the Tiger will help guide you
to
-
accepting the emotions which may
be keeping you stuck in the past
-
finding what beliefs and what
decisions are operating in your life
-
experiencing emotional integration
-
a deepening spirituality, and
-
the next phase of your recovery.
Open to men
and women, training in Woman Within or MKP is not a requirement.

Transforming Your Inner Critic

destructive, energy depleting, and keeps us in a cycle of shame, paralysis, and sabotage of our power and success. Our

just feel bad. You can’t cut it away – you can’t GET RID of it…
You can TRANSFORM it!
In a safe environment, through experiential exercises this weekend will provide you tools to…
-
Explore your inner critic and its role in your life
-
Discover where it came from
-
Uncover the hidden value it brings to you
-
Transform the power it holds from destruction to creation
-
Learn techniques to befriend your critic and have it work for you.
